Dr. Mark Richmond is a board certified Internal Medicine Specialist with over 30 years of experience.
A life-long Michigander, he spent his youth exploring the lakes woods and fields of Oakland County and
Northern Michigan. Always curious and inquisitive about science and biology, he pursued undergraduate
courses that eventually led to the study of medicine. After graduating from Wayne State University
School of Medicine he went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann
Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Richmond and his wife Colleen decided to move their new family to Northern Michigan and he joined
the staff at Burns Clinic in Petoskey. Surrounded by a top notch medical community, he spent the next
25 years in private group practice providing on call and inpatient care to his patients at Northern Michigan
Hospital, at the office and in nursing homes. After a few years of being on staff with McLaren Medical
Group he decided it was time to go back to private practice to better serve the needs of his patients.

Dr. Richmond values the doctor/patient relationship above all else and feels that this is the key to
effective, quality health care. Taking the time to really understand patients’ needs and concerns, and
engage in two-way communication is paramount to success. Equally important is being able to have
access to your doctor in a timely manner. This is the driving force behind his new practice at Docs by the
Bay. Partnering with the patient and collaborating as a team to provide the highest quality, personalized
care is our goal.

Dr. Richmond and his family have been fortunate to call Petoskey their home for over 30 years. Enjoying
the natural beauty of Northern Michigan, and all it has to offer, is a wonderful benefit of living and working
